My own interest in appellate work comes from a background steeped in legal research and writing. In addition to working in private practice drafting asylum and removal defense appeals before both the BIA and the Ninth Circuit, I volunteered with Flores counsel helping draft impact litigation for children in federal immigration detention.
Prior to that, I spent six years teaching Legal Research & Writing as a full-time faculty member at UC Davis School of Law, where I began as a Visiting Professor of Law teaching International Human Rights Law. While living in the United Kingdom, I was a tenured faculty member with teaching responsibilities in inter-
international law, international human rights law and administrative law in Aberdeen, Scotland. In 2012, I completed a PhD in international law as a Gates Cambridge Scholar at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.
Whether as a practitioner, a professor or a student, my work has always been anchored in legal research and legal drafting.
